Our Tutors

All tutors with Springboard Learning are truly invested in supporting young people in their education journey. Every student is different and tutors are adaptable and adept at supporting many different needs be those academic stretching or explaining and embedding key concepts. Springboard tutors are required to have completed safeguarding training. They have access to additional training and are members of Qualified Tutor (a supporting body aiming to regulate tutoring as an industry). Tutors also have an up to date DBS and are supported by the founder of Springboard Learning – Lucy Haseler.

St Albans Science tutor

Lucy

Lucy is an award winning and recognised excellent tutor. She has in depth knowledge of the requirements of each exam board. Lucy has taught in schools for 18 years, been a Head of Science and written science resources for education providers. More recently alongside her tutoring Lucy is a teacher training facilitator for the STEM Hub. Lucy has an excellent rapport with students and is an expert in developing mastery and exam technique and working with students with ASD.

Subjects: GCSE Sciences, A Level Biology

Lily

Lily is an excellent communicator, is engaging and patient. At A Level she studied Biology, Chemistry and Maths at A level and achieved A*A*A*. Lily is studying Natural Sciences at the University of Birmingham. She has been tutoring for two years and has developed techniques to help students by explaining concepts in different ways. She can also suggest revision methods that have worked for her.

Fees:  £30 per hour for GCSE students and £35 per hour for A level

Shiam

Shiam was head boy whilst at sixth form, he is an excellent role model and is an experienced tutor. Shiam studied Biology, Chemistry, Maths and EPQ and achieved three A* and an A. He is now studying Medicine at St Andrew’s. Shiam is approachable, kind, engaging and patient. He is able to stretch and challenge as well as support the understanding of students that are struggling. 

Subjects: A Level Biology (Saturdays only)

Fees: £35 per hour for A level.

Bella

Bella is studying Education, Culture and Childhood at the University of Sheffield. She has two years of tutoring experience and excellent testimonials from the families she has tutored for. Bella is excellent at building confidence in her students, she helps them break down trickier ideas into simple methods and develop independence.
Bella took A Level Maths, Spanish and History and achieved A, B, B respectively.

Matt

Matt is a patient and experienced tutor who offers creative and collaborative lessons. At A-level he studied biology, chemistry, maths, and an EPQ, achieving 4 A*s. Matt is now studying medicine at the University of Manchester. Matt sets out to consolidate gaps in knowledge, stretch students to reach their potential and offer insightful exam techniques.

Subjects: A level Chemistry.

Fees: £35 per hour.

Joe

Joe is a patient individual who has previously worked as both a physics tutor and a maths tutor. At A level he studied Physics, Maths, Further Maths and Spanish and achieved an A* in each subject. He is now doing Physics with Study in Europe at the University of Manchester. He endeavours to make his tutoring sessions engaging and to break down confusing concepts into simple ideas.

Ella

Ella was deputy-head girl during her time in Sixth Form, and is a friendly and encouraging tutor. At A Level she studied Biology, Geography and Politics, and achieved A*AA, and is currently studying Geography at the University of Bristol. Ella is an experienced tutor, through which, and from her own studies, she has developed effective revision methods and a clear way of explaining concepts that makes challenging topics easy to master. She is patient and understanding, and is able to tailor sessions and teaching to the individual.

Eva

Eva is a friendly student who was head girl in her secondary school and is currently pursuing a degree in Mathematics at University of Bristol. Having got all 9s at GCSE, Eva went on to study Maths, Further maths, Economics and Psychology where she achieved A*AAA*. With practical experience in teaching maths while at school, she desires to share her enthusiasm for the subject to those she teaches. Knowing that Maths is often a subject that students find frustrating, she strives to simplify challenging topics by using a diverse range of teaching methods and to build confidence and proficiency in her tutees.

Ida

Ida was Head Girl during her time at Sixth Form. She is a passionate, supportive tutor who is committed to helping her tutees perform excellently in their exams. After achieving 4 A*s in Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics and EPQ at A Level, she is now studying Biochemistry at Imperial College London. With two years of tutoring experience, she continues to provide engaging and informative tutoring sessions, focusing on effective revision methods tailored to each individual, which will allow her tutees to easily grasp challenging concepts.

Billy

Billy is a second-year Medicinal Chemistry student at the University of Leeds with A-levels in Maths (A), Chemistry (A), and Physics (A*). He is enthusiastic about helping students grasp these subjects and eager to share knowledge and provide support to students working towards their GCSEs and A-Levels. Billy believes in making learning accessible and is committed to helping students build their confidence and achieve their best through his patient, engaging communication style

Xanthe

Xanthe is a kind and engaging tutor. She achieved A*AA at a level in Biology, Chemistry and Psychology respectively. She is now studying Medicine at the University of Sheffield. She has excellent communication skills having worked with children with learning difficulties. As a Chemistry prefect she has experience running GCSE science revision sessions. Xanthe is patient and will aim to challenge students as-well as giving advice on the different revision strategies she used.

Sib

Sib was Head Girl whilst at sixth form, and is an excellent role model. She has two years of experience tutoring in maths and physics, and is able to build good rapport with her students. Sib studied Physics, History and Maths at A Level and is predicted 3A*s in each. She achieved an A in Further Maths at AS level and is going to study Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Sheffield University. Sib is adaptable, approachable and engaging and she can suggest the most effective revision techniques that have worked for her.

Alice

Alice is a passionate and supportive individual who has had over two years of experience in encouraging students through her tutoring. She has worked with students with a range of abilities and is able to adapt her approach to best suit their needs.
Alice achieved top results in her GCSEs and went on to study English Literature, History, Psychology and EPQ at A Level where she achieved 3 A*s and an A.

Jay

Jay achieved 4 A*s at A level in biology, chemistry, maths and EPQ and is currently studying medicine at the University of Manchester. He delivers student-led tutoring, incorporating exam technique while consolidating knowledge of current and previous topics. He is flexible with his session plans and adapts tutoring to meet his student’s individual needs, making sessions engaging and collaborative.

Sara (Qualified Teacher)

Sara holds a MSc in Biomedical Sciences and has experience teaching in an Ofsted Outstanding school. She specializes in tutoring Chemistry, Physics, and Biology at the GCSE level. Sara is passionate about promoting a love of learning and inspiring students to explore the wonders of Science, helping them achieve their academic goals and develop a lifelong interest in the subject.

Subjects: Chemistry, Physics, and Biology GCSE.

Fees: £60 per hour.

Amelia

Amelia is an engaging and patient tutor with excellent communication skills. She studied Biology, Physics and Spanish at A level achieving excellent results. Amelia is currently in her second year studying Neuroscience with Spanish at Manchester University. Amelia implements a bespoke learning package, using a diverse range of teaching methods, tailored to each individual student. Amelia is known to instil confidence in her students by simplifying the more challenging topics and difficult concepts. She ensures students understand the importance of revision strategies and exam techniques, as well as having a strong comprehension of the subject to maximise the student’s success.
